Tech Geniuses Of Pakistan

Whenever we heard about geniuses of tech in Pakistan, the first name that most probably comes to our mind is of Arfa Karim Randhawa, a child prodigy,smart, talented and God gifted girl, but unfortunately she is no more with us. But by the grace of Almighty Allah, this tech industry still have some absolute wonders and prodigies. Pakistan is known for it,s tech geniuses. They have surprised the world many times by their talents and made several  world records. They have made  the tech study like what we call in Urdu "Bachon Ka Khel". So here are some absolute tech geniuses of Pakistan, which you probably don,t know about....

1. Shafay Thobani



 Following on the footsteps of Arfa Karim Randhawa, who became Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP) at the age on nine, another eight-year-old Pakistani Shafay Thobani became world’s youngest Microsoft Certified. Shafay, who was born on March 13, 2004, grew interested in computers studies since from very early years. - He was appeared in the Premetric test and secured 91 per cent marks, thus making him the world’s youngest Microsoft Certified Training Specialist (MCTS) at the age of eight years and 24 days. - According to the reports, he is certified professional in Microsoft Windows 7 Configuration and Microsoft Windows Server 2008 R2.

2. Babar Iqbal



Babar Iqbal (born 2 March 1997 in Dera Ismail Khan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan) is a young I.T. prodigy from Pakistan who started computer programming at the age of 5. He came to prominence by becoming the youngest Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP) in the world at the age of 9, as well as obtaining the record of being the youngest CIWA aged 9, youngest CWNA at 10, youngest Microsoft Student Partner (MSP) at 11 and youngest MCTS in .NET 3.5 at 12 after Arfa Karim Randhawa. His research has been accepted by 8th IEEE International Conference on Innovations in Information Technology. But unfortunately, we Pakistanis, do not give him the stature he deserves and currently he is residing in UAE.

3. Suleman Malik




Suleman Malik ( born 19 march 1994 in Peshawar, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan) is a young I.T. prodigy from Pakistan. Suleman started computer programming at the age of 6. Suleman came to prominence by becoming the World youngest professional programmer at the age of 12 by making internet web browser using microsoft visual c++, and achieved the title of World Youngest computer professional programmer. Suleman Malik has got certified certificates in software and webmaster professional from 17 different institutes of United State of America (U.S.A). He was fond of Computer games and often playing games on computer in childhood therefore, Suleman Malik had selected computer science subject and attained more skills in Information Technology.

4. Rafay Baloch


Rafay Baloch is a Pakistani infosec guy, freelance penetration tester, independent security researcher and blogger who is behind the Rafay Hacking Articles Blog. He gained fame for participating the Paypal Bug Bounty program and discovered Command Execution, Information Disclosure and XSS on Paypal. He was offered a job by Paypal as a Security Ninja (Security Quality Engineer) and a Penetration tester but he refused the job because of his studies. He was awarded with Microsoft Security Researchers Award for for findings various vulnerabilities in some of Microsoft's websites. He is in the HALL OF FAME of microsoft, google and ebey. He came to prominence when he was awarded 20000$( almost 19 lac Rs.) from ebay. He is also an author of many hacking ebooks.

5. Ali Hassan Ghauri




Ali Hassan Ghauri is a bug bounty hunter. His field is web application security. Recently he found that many leading websites do have vulnerability to Cross Site Scripting. The most recent discovery was about Ebay where Ali Hassan found and reported XSS vulnerability. Not only Ebay but shopping.com that is owned by Ebay as well are vulnerable to Cross Site Scripting. As soon as Ali Hassan reported this to Ebay, they fixed it on both sites. Credits were named to Ali Hassan. His name was mentioned in Ebay responsible Disclosure Page. The road has just started for Ali Hassan as he found XSS vulnerability issue with myspace.com as well. Although Ali Hassan reported this issue to myspace.com officials but the problem still exists and they did not reply to Ali Hassan till yet. Myspace.com’s security team must be quite lazy about it.
Another prominent website where this young Pakistani security researcher found XSS vulnerability issue is Cisco website. He has a world record of finding vulnerabilities in more than 150 websites.

6. Ammar Afzal

 Ammar Afzal, a student from Okara secured another World Record for Pakistan by getting 4.99 marks out of 5 in Oracle 10 exams. Not only this, this guy is doing some wonders these days.



7. Umema Adil



 Umema Adil  has been titled as world’s youngest Microsoft Certified Professional in ASP.NET. Umema Adil from Karachi has been certified as world’s youngest MCP at the age of 13 and she is certified in ASP.NET – programming language used to develop web-based applications. This young talented student is now giving lectures on entrepreneurship and blogging and is determined to build a career of her own. Apart from the field, she has been actively participating in extracurricular activities as well. She is excellent in naat recitation and has won a total of 60 certificates and shields till now, including four times the City District’s All Karachi Naat Competition; twice the All Sindh Naat Competition, All Pakistan Naat Competition and recently, Sindh Hamd-o-naat Award.

8. Shayan Anique


Shayan Anique Akhtar, has set a world record in Microsoft Professional Certificate programme by achieving 998 marks out of a total of 1000. His name has been entered in the Guinness Book of World Records for this accomplishment. Shayan has also met Bill Gates  on a special invitation of the Microsoft founder. He is also a Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP), Microsoft Certified Technology Specialist (MCTS) and Microsoft Professional Developer (MPD).

9. Irtiza Haider



 Irtiza Haider has become world’s youngest Cisco Certified Network Associate. The CCNA, is a certification that emphasizes on the technology and skills needed to work with networks of 100 nodes or fewer, covering both IP and non-IP networks including IPX and AppleTalk. Moreover, you need to have 80 percent of the questions correctly answered in the 2 hours, in order to pass the CCNA test.

10. Sikandar Baloch



This Pakistani wonder child has made history after creating seven Microsoft and Google certified computer operating systems in a suburb of Abbottabad. The 15-year-old student, Sikandar Mehmood Baloch, lives in Bilal Town in Abbottabad. Sikandar not only became a certified expert of 107 computer engineering languages at a young age but has also received certificates of his achievements from Microsoft and performed work for Google. He has also received 25 certificates as acknowledgement of his unique work performed for Google, the biggest search engine in the world. Sikandar is studying in the 9th grade in a local school and has made many Linux. Systems (From VVS1 to VVS7) and developed an indigenous anti-virus system as well. He created a world record at the age of nine after making his first operating system. He works with many websites and earns over $70 dollars daily.


There are many other geniuses in Pakistan and many will be in future, and they are our real assets. But they all are following the path set by Arfa Karim.




 So this article is also a tribute to Arfa. Hope that one day her dream will become true and a silicon valley will be established in Pakistan.
